Goodnews River

7 days, 6 nights

$4495.00 per person from Dillingham.

We think this is the best of the Alaska wilderness fishing adventures
for Rainbow Trout, Char and Salmon to be found anywhere
based on the number, size and freshness of fish.
The river is serene & beautiful and full of fish.

A beautiful and unspoiled river in Western Alaska, the Goodnews is a fisherman’s dream river. It threads its way through the Ahklun Range and from the headwaters to our take-out, these emerald mountains are never far away. The river offers some of the finest fishing in Alaska and is an epic choice for your  Alaska fishing vacation. Up to 10 species of fish can be caught in a single float. The stars of the river are the Silvers. We think this is the best Silver Salmon fishing to be found anywhere based on the number, size and freshness of fish. Add excellent fishing for Rainbows, extraordinary numbers of Dollies & Arctic Char, big Grayling and even a few Lake Trout. Only the Goodnews has it all.

The river is tightly controlled and only 2 operators have commercial permits to run float trips on the river in any week. While we normally see another float trip or two and a few jet boats in the lower reaches, there is very little pressure on the river. We are limited to only 6 trips each year and they fill quickly. Book early if you want to float this spectacular river.

Our six trips on the Goodnews span the best of Alaska’s summer fishing.  Late June trips give us rainbows and grayling and the scouts of the king salmon run. July adds chum and red salmon runs to the mix along with both sea run and resident dolly varden. Late July, in even years, the pink salmon swarm the river and continue well into August. From mid August through mid September the silver salmon run boils into the river and the trout and dolly fishing is at its peak too.   Choose any Goodnews River fishing trip and you will find large numbers of wild fish and stunning scenery.
